Iconoclast
Punk-metal collective BÖNDBREAKR waste no time crashing and screeching their way into the studded and manic timeline of Texan punk, joining the likes of Meat Joy, the Dicks, Scratch Acid, Butthole Surfers and Pussy Gillette as the latest and arguably best in the state’s revered fringe citizenry.
The band were the talk of the town at Purple City [Edmonton, Alberta, Canada], unleashing a brainsick performance at the Y AfterHours full of anarchic abandon. -Khagan Aslanov, Range

The band continued to lend local support to touring acts, including Cherubs, Fea, and Ratas en Zelo, and completed their East Coast Tour in May 2024 alongside ska punk outfit Hans Gruber and the Die Hards. press quotes
“The group’s majestically long-flowing hair suggested something thrash adjacent, but close attention to the relentless riffage evinced only trace heavy metal lineage. Reader, never have I been more proud to be a pathetic, smelly hardcore nerd.”
Austin chronicle
“Their rendition of ‘Bride of Crankenstein’ (originally from Melvins’ 2014 LP ‘Hold It In’) flaunts a heavy, distorted riff set against a growled and occasionally brattish vocal […].
The marriage of relentlessly heavy guitars, groove laden bass and banjo captures the arty nature of the track perfectly, and in under three minutes Bondbreakr not only signal their love for a great band but advertise themselves as a musical act to watch out for in their own right.”
REAL GONE
“Established in 2018, the psychedelic-punk quartet rages controlled noise with a commanding edge. Often singing about racism, sexism, BIPOC mental health issues, and social media addiction, front woman Gerilyn Hayes-McCloskey’s intense singing style engulfs any stage she stands on, asserting dominance and striking attention.”
AUSTIN MONTHLY
“Hitting you like a jackhammer […], you’re left in no doubt that this is going to be an onslaught of the heaviest order.”
the punk site
“Gerilyn Hayes-McCloskey of Bondbreakr is a formidable, foreboding, and ferocious experience -- imagine a hybrid of black metal with grind/hardcore undercurrents, Afro-futurism, modern dance, performance art, Kabuki theater, and beyond. Stylized, political, and complex, from Austin with powerplay riffage.”
Left of the dial
“Their sound was relentless: hard driving rhythms overlaid by Hayes’ monster vocals kept us transfixed.”
the cosmic clash
“The band were the talk of the town at Purple City, unleashing a brainsick performance at the Y AfterHours full of anarchic abandon.”
